Long Time No News, Anton, Former Drummer of Sheila On 7, Now Works as a 'Handyman' and Once Created a Ghost Catcher Radio

Kapanlagi.com - Since leaving Sheila On 7 in 2004, Anton Widiastanto seemed to disappear. Not without reason, leaving the band that had made his name big felt so surprising and painful, so Anton chose to isolate himself.

In an exclusive interview on the medcom.id Youtube channel, the drummer admitted that he had experienced severe trauma in music. Even when he saw his drum set, he always felt nauseous. Too many beautiful and bad memories had been created with Sheila On 7.

Initially, no one knew the exact reason why Anton left Sheila On 7. But there were rumors that the 41-year-old man was undisciplined and prioritized his community outside the band, so he was eventually expelled. Anton firmly denied it.

"I thought, luckily I didn't go crazy. If I couldn't handle it, I could go crazy. Because this is not a family matter. This is like 1 Indonesia and my name is made like this (in the media). There was a time when, oh my God, why am I being tested like this? Why am I being treated like this?" Anton recalled as quoted by KapanLagi.com from the medcom.id Youtube channel.

1. Busy Being a Handyman

Surely many are wondering, how is Anton doing now and what is he busy with. After some investigation, he now has a bunch of activities outside of the music world. But one of the things he likes the most is being a 'handyman' in his own house.

"I was a handyman the other day, lately I've been playing games. The important thing is to never stop thinking. Until today actually. I have to be able to do anything. Seriously. I installed this floor myself, painted the walls, built the front gate," he continued.

2. Ghost Sound Catcher Radio

Interestingly, Anton also once made a ghost sound catcher radio. Not just any ordinary radio, the man who used to have long hair shared his experience with the mystical tool.

"There was this radio. I wanted to sell it, but it turned out to be broken. So at that time, I met a friend on Facebook, a foreigner. His channel was Epic Paranormal. First, I watched his channel, he talked to ghosts through the radio. The radio is automatic, you press scan, it stops at a station. Press it again, search again. If he made it so that the radio keeps playing, even if it finds a station, it keeps playing," Anton explained.

"So, the words that come out from the radio broadcast are from the random channel earlier. And it actually makes sense. So, I ask a question, he answers the question," he continued.

3. Not Wanting to Become a Shaman

But don't get me wrong, making a ghost voice catcher is just one of Anton's hobbies. He doesn't want people to misunderstand and think that he has become a shaman or something.

"This is the hobby of unemployed people who have nothing to do. This is just one of my hobbies, don't think that I'm focused on becoming a shaman," Anton concluded.
