Loves Listening to Heavy Music, Rian Ekky Pradipta's Child Doesn't Like D'Masiv Songs

Rian Ekky Pradipta once again creates a funny story about his family life. The vocalist of D'Masiv shares a unique experience about his child's taste in music, which is very different from his band's genre.

His daughter, Ralia, turns out to be obsessed with metal music. Rian admitted he was surprised because his child actually likes heavy bands like Slipknot, Pantera, and Sepultura. Check out the full story below!

This was revealed when Ralia continuously played metal songs at home. In fact, she openly said that she doesn't really like D'Masiv songs because she thinks they aren't heavy enough.

"So my child Ralia is really into metal songs, she likes Slipknot, Pantera, Sepultura, then Nirvana, Green Day," said Rian when met in the Petukangan area, West Jakarta, Tuesday (4/8/2025).   "She said, 'Make a metal song, okay'," he continued.

Rian once asked directly if Ralia enjoyed the songs of his band. But the answer from his child made Rian laugh and rethink about the music taste of the younger generation.   "So when I asked her yesterday, 'Do you like D'Masiv's songs?' she said no, and when I asked why, she said, 'because there’s no metal in it'," Rian said.

Ralia's statement made Rian realize that kids these days have a very broad music reference. However, the child's perspective began to change when she saw D'Masiv's live performance. Rian once performed a Britney Spears song in a metal version that made Ralia give a thumbs up.

"Then I got to listen during the live, when D'Masiv performed Britney Spears' song, which we made into a progressive metal version, right? This D'MASIV is cool, they can do metal too, that's how it should be, right," he explained.

Rian feels happy because finally his child can see another side of the band D'Masiv. From there, Ralia hopes her father's band can feature heavier music more often. For Rian, this request becomes something funny yet interesting to consider.   "The point is she wants D'Masiv's music to be louder," said Rian.

He also started to think about occasionally incorporating metal elements into their work. Interestingly, Ralia's interest in metal music came about naturally. Rian said that no one specifically introduced that genre to his daughter.

"Well, that's also strange, he knows himself. He likes to scroll through TikTok, so for some reason, he really likes Slipknot and yesterday, when he got back from LA, the thing he terrorized me with was a voice note like that, he didn't ask if his dad was home, but he said, 'Dad, don't forget to buy the Slipknot T-shirt,'" Rian explained.

He mentioned that social media can be a bridge for children to learn about many things, including music. Rian also shared a cute moment when he returned from abroad. It wasn't a hug or sweet greeting that he received first, but rather a request about his child's favorite metal band. "So when I got back, instead of being hugged first, the first thing he asked was about Slipknot," he said.
