Many Complaints, SCTV Ensures that the Storyline of the Soap Opera 'Dari Jendela SMP' is Different from the Novel

This controversial theme has resulted in numerous complaints from viewers regarding the soap opera starring Sandrinna Michelle and Rey Bong. Therefore, SCTV responded to KPI's call to clarify the issue.

"So, I actually went to KPI before the soap opera aired. We were summoned by KPI due to complaints from viewers. The complaints were about whether it is acceptable for junior high school students to be pregnant. That's why instead of waiting for it to air, I decided to come directly. First, it hadn't aired yet. Second, the novel has been around for a long time, so why complain now that it's been turned into a soap opera? Third, the storyline is an adaptation and is different. The soap opera's story is different because it involves a mistaken pregnancy and the resulting commotion and family gimmick," said David Suwarto, Deputy Director of Programming at SCTV, when contacted by KapanLagi.com via phone call on Tuesday (7/7/2020)

Although many are concerned about the content of pregnancy outside of marriage that does not fit the classification of the soap opera From the Window of Junior High School in the teenage category, some viewers actually welcome this new show. It is mentioned that the attraction of this soap opera is not only its different storyline but also the selection of its cast.

"I see online enthusiasm is not all negative. In fact, most of them like the male cast, the female cast, just like our other soap operas. Not all comments are wrong," said David Suwarto.

Furthermore, David asked those who complain to the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) to watch the soap opera From the Window of Junior High School first and prove for themselves whether there is indeed adult content in the show. David also explained that the soap opera From the Window of Junior High School provides an opportunity for parents to teach sex education to their children.

"We are grateful that many people watch it. For those who feel that it is wrong, well, try watching it. If you watch it, we are not teaching anything inappropriate. If there is a sleeping scene during the rain and they think it means pregnancy, the lesson is: parents should teach their children that it doesn't mean they are pregnant. This is also a good opportunity for parents to teach. There are definitely no bedroom scenes or indications of any relationship that leads to pregnancy. And it is indeed shown that they are not pregnant," he concluded.
