Marthino Lio Trusted to Play Glenn Fredly in the Film, Lose Weight - Change Voice to Resemble

Kapanlagi.com - Marthino Lio is trusted to portray musician Glenn Fredly in the film GLENN FREDLY THE MOVIE. The actor was chosen based on the recommendation of Mutia Ayu, who is none other than the late Glenn's wife.

Initially, Marthino felt burdened by being chosen to portray Glenn. However, when he found out that it was the family who suggested his name, his lack of confidence disappeared.

"Bung Glenn is a music icon. So when I was first offered the role, various thoughts came into my mind. I don't think I'm ready for this possibility. But what happened, happened. Once I entered the workshop process, it turned out that I was chosen based on the family's recommendation. The path that initially felt heavy became lighter," said Marthino when met in Kemang, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/9/2023).

1. Losing Weight

To portray Glenn Fredly, Marthino Lio made adjustments. First and foremost, he had to lose weight, as the musician is known to have a fit body posture.

"I have been losing weight, and until now I am still progressing in the gym and cycling every day from home to the reading location. It's quite a drop, from eighty-two kilos to seventy-six kilos in three weeks," explained Marthino.

2. Imitating Glenn Fredly's Voice

In addition to losing weight, Marthino Lio also tried to imitate Glenn Fredly's voice. And it was challenging because he had to dialogue with a different voice model.

"Because my voice is low, while Bung's voice is high, I ended up raising my voice through vocal techniques. It's not easy to read the script every day and find the neutral point where Lio can bring out this big Glenn Fredly but at the same time, not lose the message about his love," explained the actor who won the Citra Award.
