The friendship between Didi Riyadi and the late Lucky Widja has lasted for decades. They are not just bandmates; they share a long history that began on the modeling stage of a teen magazine in the 90s.

Didi reminisces about the early days of his meeting with Lucky. Both started their careers as cover models for famous magazines of their time. Didi became the Cover Boy champion in 1995, followed by Lucky who won the Top Guest title a year later.

"Historically, we walked together. We walked together in the same place. Back then, we knew there was a Teen Magazine, Aneka Magazine. I was the Cover Boy in '95, first place. Followed by Lucky, Top Guest first place in '96," said Didi Riyadi at TPU Jeruk Purut.

From the world of modeling, they then dared to dive into the music industry by forming the band Element. Didi referred to this step as a major breakthrough in its time, because at that time there was no band whose entire personnel had a modeling background.

"And there was also our manager at that time, Johandi Yahya, who made a breakthrough, breaking through, you know. At that time, there was no one from a modeling background who formed a band, that didn't exist. If there were vocal groups, friends from the 90s surely know about Coboy, all models," he explained.

Together with Lucky, Didi built Element from scratch. They became the strong pillars for the band, which is now 27 years old. The emotional bond that has developed between them is like inseparable siblings.

"So, of course, the bonding, the emotional closeness is indeed very strong. I was still in my teens back then. Element will be 27 years old in 2026. So, it's been a long journey," Didi expressed emotionally.

Losing Lucky was a second heavy blow for Didi and Element, after they also had to let go of Ronny Setiawan's departure.
