Mother of the Defendant in the House Robbery Case Confronts Uya Kuya While Crying: Forgive My Child, Sir

The atmosphere of the trial for the house robbery case involving artist and member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Uya Kuya, at the East Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (3/12/2025), was emotional. After giving his testimony, Uya was confronted by the parents of the defendants who pleaded for mercy for their children.

One of the most attention-grabbing moments was when a mother of one of the defendants cried hysterically in front of Uya. She pleaded for her child, who has been detained for three months, to receive a lighter sentence due to health reasons.

"Forgive my child, sir. My child has been suffering at home, has an illness. He has been detained for three months, please forgive my child," said the mother while sobbing and holding Uya's hand.

In response to the emotional plea, Uya Kuya appeared to try to comfort the mother. He emphasized that personally, the door to forgiveness has been wide open since the beginning of the incident, but he does not have the authority to interfere with the legal process that is currently underway in court.

"Listen to me, ma'am, I have forgiven from the start. Next, let it be handed over to the authorities. I have no power at all. I am not a judge, I am not a prosecutor," Uya explained gently, trying to provide understanding.

Although Uya has provided an explanation, the mother continues to praise Uya's kindness and hopes for leniency for her child's fate. "Oh Allah, a good man. I often see you on television," she repeated several times.

To ease the increasingly emotional atmosphere, Uya closed the conversation with a friendly gesture. "Later, we can visit your house, okay," Uya said while patting the shoulder of the middle-aged woman before leaving the courtroom.

This case involves three defendants, namely Reval Ahmad Jayadi, Anisa Safitri, and Warda Wahdatullah. The incident began when riots occurred on Saturday night, August 30, 2025.

According to the indictment by the Public Prosecutor, Warda invited Anisa to Uya's house in the Pondok Bambu area, which at that time was filled with looters. Upon arriving at the location, they met Reval, who was struggling to carry a 60-inch LG television out of Uya's house.

The three of them then collaborated to carry the stolen television for 50 meters to the Honda Beat motorcycle they had parked, and then took it to a workshop in the Banjir Kanal Timur (BKT) area with the intention of selling it.

Their actions were halted after the East Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit made arrests on September 8, 2025. Now, the defendants face criminal threats in accordance with Article 363 paragraph (1) points 3 and 4 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with aggravating circumstances committed in collusion.
