Muhadkly Acho's Hilarious Memories: Having 'Adidas' Shoes with Four Stripes

The latest news comes from comedian and director Muhadkly Acho, who is involved in the legendary remake film, Children of Heaven. Playing the role of a principal, this 41-year-old man has a very personal yet humorous memory about footwear from his childhood filled with struggles.

Growing up in the Tanjung Priok area of North Jakarta, Acho recounts that owning branded items was a dream that was hard to achieve. He reminisces about how he had to settle for imitation items bought from a famous second-hand goods market in his area.

"If I lived in Tanjung Priok, I never had real shoes. So I've always wanted to have Adidas with three stripes, I bought them at Pasar Ular," said Muhadkly Acho when met in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, on Monday (13/4/2026).

The man who started his career as a comedian added that there was a unique incident when he transacted with a vendor there. Instead of getting shoes with the brand's signature three stripes, he actually received an extra stripe that left him astonished."The vendors there are really nice, so I said I wanted to buy Adidas and they gave me four stripes. When I said, 'Hey, isn't Adidas supposed to have three?' He said, 'No, we are nice, we give you one extra,'" he said while laughing as he recalled the vendor's joke.

It's not just about style; for Acho, who was born into a large family with seven siblings, shoes are a luxury item that must be kept under tight security. The environment where he used to live was quite risky, so his parents always felt anxious every time he wanted to buy new footwear.

"Back in Priok, I couldn't have cool shoes because they often got lost, were snatched, or extorted. So when I wanted to buy shoes, my parents didn't ask if they were nice or not, but 'Aren't you afraid they'll get lost?' That was the question," he added.

Economic limitations also made Acho accustomed to using second-hand items or hand-me-downs from his siblings. He mentioned that new shoes would only be purchased if the old ones were truly unwearable, and the brand chosen had to be the most affordable.

"The shoes were passed down from my brother. There are seven siblings, so it was like until these shoes were really unusable, we would buy new ones. And they had to be Bata brand because Bata is cheap," said the star of the film Lantai 4.

Now, after succeeding in the entertainment industry, Acho admits he once had the desire to satisfy his childhood passion by collecting shoes. Nevertheless, he continues to take moral lessons to always be grateful for what he has today."Just be grateful a lot because out there, there are people who even have to take turns wearing shoes," he concluded the conversation.
