Negligence Factor Suspected to Cause Mother and Sister's Death, Ayu Anjani Investigates the Case to Imprison Ship Crew

Kapanlagi.com - Ayu Anjani's mother and sister died in the sinking of the Tiana GT 61 ship in the waters of Komodo National Park, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara on Tuesday (28/6/2022). The incident left anger after learning about the crew's attitude towards her family.

According to Ayu's testimony based on her sister's account, when the ship was hit by wind and sank in a tilted position to the right, no crew member tried to save the passengers. They saved themselves and their belongings instead.

"I don't understand how the crew was there. But I heard from my sister that they saved themselves, guests also saved themselves, no guests were saved by the crew, even the crew saved their belongings," Ayu said in an interview session via Google Meet on Thursday (30/6/2022).

1. The Ship Crew Still Sleeping

If the captain and crew at the location woke up earlier because they had to continue the journey, the ship would not have tilted and caused injuries and fatalities. However, the opposite happened, causing everything to be handled too late.

"The incident at half past six in the morning means it's already a bit bright there. Indeed, many passengers were still lying down, but they had already woken up. The boat crew was still sleeping and even my sister who was sleeping in the middle cabin had to wake them up," said Ayu.

"When the ship tilted, water had already entered a foot high, the captain was still rubbing his eyes, his eyes were still red. If the captain had already woken up at that time (earlier), he would have turned on the engine, turned the wheel so that water wouldn't enter," she added.

2. Drunkard

The captain and crew were still asleep due to drunkenness until night. This made Ayu Anjani and her family intend to imprison the captain, crew, and tour guide who were suspected of being negligent.

"My younger sister was there, everyone said that they were drinking at night, all of them and also the guide. That's why I want to investigate thoroughly. Anyway, I don't want to hear anything if they can sleep soundly. I myself still can't sleep, can't eat since yesterday until my stomach acid rises. Because it's not that I don't want to eat, but I can't swallow," said Ayu firmly.

3. Mooring Rope Snapped

Ayu Anjani's family boarded the Tiana GT 61 ship on Monday (27/6) departing from Labuan Bajo to Kanawa Island, then continued to Kambing Loh Island to spend the night at the mooring. On Tuesday morning (28/6) around 05.00 WITA, strong winds immediately tilted the ship.

The crew and passengers received initial assistance from the Andalusia II GT 71 ship. From the evacuation process, it was found that the ship was tilting because the mooring rope had snapped.

"The position of the ship, according to Basarnas, the rope snapped from the mooring. So the ship's condition is unstable because the engine is off, slowly tilting to the right because maybe the load is heavier to the right, maybe also the wind thrust is greater," said Ayu.
