Not Going Home, Asri Welas Prepares a Lebaran Holiday Plan Around Jakarta

This year's Eid moment will be experienced by Asri Welas with a different atmosphere. If usually many people flock back to their hometowns, Asri chooses to stay in Jakarta. This is because her extended family will gather in the capital city.

Asri has prepared plans to take her children to visit various popular tourist spots in Jakarta as a substitute for going back to their hometown. Several places like Dufan and Ancol are already on their list of visits during the long Eid al-Fitr holiday.

"Vacation. Usually, where do we go for Eid? To recreational places. Where are we going later? Just to Dufan. Local recreational places, yes, but later on. Then where else? To Ancol, to Taman Safari, yes. Basically, to places in Jakarta, because we are not going back to Java, Grandma is also coming here," said Asri Welas when met at Warung Buncit, South Jakarta, Tuesday (17/3/2026).

In addition to sightseeing, the main agenda that must not be missed is a pilgrimage to the grave of her late father. For Asri, maintaining the tradition of pilgrimage is very important before starting the family gathering celebration on the holiday.

"What’s the tradition for us? To the grave. To my dad's grave. Yes, later we’ll just go for a walk, mostly family gathering," said Asri.

As a single parent, Asri also shared how she educates her children to support each other. She feels very grateful because her children understand her busy work schedule to meet their school needs and buy toys as rewards for their achievements.

"Alhamdulillah, they all understand the situation. Their mom also works for school. To buy toys, right? But when buying toys, it’s not just for the sake of buying. We have rewards if their grades are good," she explained.

Asri also emphasizes the importance of instilling a sense of responsibility in her eldest son, Ibam, from an early age. She hopes Ibam grows up to be a man who is ready to lead and take responsibility for his family in the future.

"When he becomes a man, who does he want to lead, Bang? When he gets married, who will he lead? He must lead his wife and have children, he must be responsible," concluded Asri Welas.
