After a long process, Nunung Srimulat finally faced the verdict trial. After receiving the prosecutor's demands and delivering her defense, the judge ruled that Nunung must serve a 1 year 6 month sentence. The smile that once adorned this comedian's face instantly vanished.
Nunung arrived at the South Jakarta District Court with her husband. This couple has both been involved in a narcotics abuse case since July 2019.
In the previous trial, Nunung had presented her defense against the prosecutor's demands. Due to health reasons, Nunung requested a sentence of approximately six months.
According to her son, Nunung has a condition where oxygen cannot reach her brain. "That (lack of oxygen) has been going on for a long time. Around the beginning of 2015, about 5 years ago. It was at the same time as her depression, turns out Mama also lacked oxygen. It's a disease in her brain," said Bagus when met at the South Jakarta District Court, Wednesday (6-11).
However, this reason seems to have little impact on the sentence imposed. The judge sentenced Nunung and Iyan to 1 year and 6 months of imprisonment.
After the gavel was struck, Nunung couldn't hide her sadness. Her smile was immediately replaced by tears. Her hope for immediate freedom is hindered by today's verdict.
Represented by Bagus Permadi, Nunung expressed disappointment with this decision. Of course, Nunung hoped to receive a lighter sentence.
However, as of the time this news was published, Bagus stated that he is still considering whether to file an appeal. Nunung and her legal team have 7 days to decide whether to appeal or accept the decision.
