Paying a Fine of Rp 8.8 Billion, Angelina Sondakh Finally Released After 10 Years in Prison?

Kapanlagi.com - Angelina Sondakh is scheduled to be released in March 2022 after 10 years in prison. Inside, Angelina Sondakh was proven to have accepted a bribe of Rp 2.5 billion and US$ 1.2 million in the budget discussion of the Wisma Atlet case.

Angelina Sondakh also received a 12-year prison sentence and a fine of Rp 500 million from the Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor) in November 2012. When met at her office on Wednesday (2/3), Rika Aprianti, the Public Relations and Protocol of the Directorate General of Corrections, stated that Angelina Sondakh had already paid the fine, but she had to serve 4 months and 15 days in prison because she couldn't pay the remaining compensation of Rp 4.5 billion.

1. Fines Have Been Paid

"Mbak Angie has paid a fine of Rp 500 million, it has been paid, the total fine amount is Rp 2.5 billion," said Rika Aprianti.

"The total amount of Rp 8.8 billion has been paid as a replacement for one year, there is still Rp 4.5 billion remaining and will be replaced with a prison sentence of around 4 months and 15 days," she continued.

2. Still Required to Report

During the sentence, Angelina Sondakh is also reported to have received a remission of 3 months in prison given once every 10 years for all inmates. Therefore, she will be on leave before being released in March 2022, but she still has to report for 3 months and receive guidance from the correctional institution.

"Possibly in March, Mbak Angie will be released, but not completely free, because her case has received a 3-month remission every decade," she added.

3. Angie's Plans After Being Released

After being released, Angelina Sondakh already has various plans. One of them is to visit the grave of Adjie Massaid and spend a lot of time with her children and parents.

"I asked her, what will you do once you're out. Mbak Angie said the first thing she will do is give thanks. Then she said she wants to visit her late husband's grave, mas Adjie," said Krisna Murti, her lawyer when met in SCBD area, Jakarta, on Tuesday (1/3).

4. No Longer Involved in Politics

When asked if Angelina will return to the political stage, Krisna confirmed that his client will no longer be involved in politics.

"I asked her if she still wants to be involved in politics or entertainment? Mbak Angie said, 'Mas, it's better if we don't talk about politics. I am traumatized by talking about politics. I don't want to get involved in politics anymore.' She's traumatized," said Krisna Murti.

5. Crying Often

According to Krisna Murti, Angelina Sondakh also currently often cries because she will soon be released from prison.

"She is crying now. Because Mbak Angie is in the large block, mixed with other inmates. Mbak Angie wants to get out, many are sad because Mbak Angie is quite respected there," said Krisna.
