Police Designate Gathan Saleh as a Suspect in the Alleged Shooting Case

Kapanlagi.com - The East Jakarta Police have conducted an investigation regarding the shooting case committed by Gathan Saleh on Thursday (29/2/2024). After the investigation, the police decided to designate Gathan as a suspect in the case.

"It is concluded and decided that the status of the alleged perpetrator can be changed from a witness to a suspect based on legal facts and evidence," said East Jakarta Police Chief, Commissioner Pol Nicolas Ary Lilipaly, on Thursday (29/2/2024).

1. Continue Examination

Currently, investigators are continuing the examination of Gathan as a suspect in the case. In addition, Gathan is also planned to be detained for further processing.

"Starting today, GSH is designated as a suspect and we will proceed with the detention of the suspect GSH. Detention can be extended for 20 days," said Nicolas.

2. Article on Firearms Ownership

For that act, Gathan is charged with Article 338 in conjunction with Article 53 regarding attempted murder and/or Article 1 paragraph 1 of Emergency Law number 12 of 1951, related to carrying or possessing firearms or sharp weapons without authorization.

3. Incident Background

It is said that Gathan shot the victim MAM. The shooting started from an argument and mutual insults they exchanged in a chat application.

"The perpetrator and the reporter or victim were chatting through WhatsApp, where the insults occurred. Finally, some time later when the reporter left Corline travel and tourism to buy fried rice, the alleged perpetrator approached the victim," he said.

"So it was a continued argument, from the phone it continued at the crime scene, where the perpetrator took out a weapon and fired the first shot above the victim who was scared and ran, closing the shop door," he concluded.
