Three days have passed since Vadel Badjideh was officially detained at the South Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters on suspicion of committing indecent acts against Nikita Mirzani's daughter, Laura Meizani. During the detention period, Vadel's health condition was reported to be good.
"As for today, we haven't seen him again. But yesterday he was healthy," said Acting Head of Public Relations of South Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Nurma Dewi, on Monday (17/2/2025).
According to Nurma Dewi, Vadel seems to be adapting quite quickly to the detention environment. In fact, he even participated in activities with other inmates. "He even joined in activities together," explained Nurma Dewi.
Until now, Vadel has not expressed any complaints regarding his physical condition or the situation in the cell where he is being held. "Yes, just like what we saw yesterday. What is the physical condition of VA," he added.
Although there are no complaints, Vadel, through his family, has submitted a request for suspension of detention since the first day he was designated as a suspect. This request is the right of the suspect as regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code. "From the family. From the time of detention. The suspension is the right of the suspect. It is regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code," said Nurma Dewi.
However, until now, the request is still under consideration by the investigators. The final decision regarding the suspension of detention is entirely the authority of the South Jakarta Metro Police investigators. "Whether it is granted or not, that remains the authority of the investigators," said Nurma Dewi.
As is known, this case began with a report from Nikita Mirzani on September 12, 2024. In her report, Nikita accused Vadel of committing sexual offenses against minors, as well as forcing Laura to undergo an abortion.
After undergoing intensive examination on Thursday (February 13, 2025), Vadel was officially named a suspect. He faces a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison based on Article 76D in conjunction with Article 81 paragraph (1) of the Child Protection Law.
