Portrait of Anjasmara Who Became a Yoga Teacher Since 2013, Once Left All Other Jobs

Anjasmara decided to fully dive into being a yoga teacher more than a decade ago. He even left all other jobs he had previously worked in the entertainment world. Check out the full story below!

"At that time, I left all my jobs, I only totally taught yoga for 3 years," said Anjasmara when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, Tuesday (14/5/2025).

That big decision was made in 2013, the year that became a turning point in his life. Since then, he has seriously delved into yoga not just as a routine, but also as a way of life.   “Since 2013 (becoming a yoga coach),” he said briefly but firmly.

The increasing popularity of yoga, especially among Gen Z, has also impacted Anjasmara's schedule. Nevertheless, he maintains a principle of being disciplined with the time and schedule he has set.   “For me, I still stick to the schedule that I have,” he said.

He teaches regularly at a yoga studio every Monday. However, if a teacher is unavailable, he is ready to substitute, and he usually uses the weekends to share knowledge outside the city.   “In the studio, I teach every Monday, unless there is a teacher who is unable to attend, then I will substitute. Then on weekends, I usually go out of town or to events that invite me to share yoga there,” he continued.

Many people think Anjasmara has settled in Bali because of his lifestyle that is closely associated with tranquility and nature. But apparently, until now he still lives in Jakarta.   “Actually, I still reside in Jakarta, I haven't moved anywhere. I want to be in Bali, maybe the universe still wants me to stay in Jakarta for now. So yeah, I'm still in Jakarta,” he said.

Regarding the price of yoga classes, Anjasmara admits he does not want to interfere. He prefers to leave it entirely to the manager so that he can focus more on the substance of teaching.   “If it’s about the price, that’s the manager’s job, and the manager also handles it. Because I don’t want to get involved in matters like that. I just focus on teaching, and then if there are managerial issues, someone else will handle them. Other issues will also have someone handling them, so I don’t get stressed,” he emphasized.

Yoga has brought many changes in the way Anjasmara views and lives life. He has become more accepting of circumstances and grateful for what he has right now.   “My life reflection is that I am now more grateful for what I have at this moment,” he said.

When facing something that feels off, he no longer rushes to reject or avoid it. He chooses to adapt and align his feelings with the existing circumstances.   “Even if there is something that doesn't sit well with me, I try to align that discomfort with what I feel right now,” he stated.

Now, he wants to start his day with tranquility, far from the hustle and bustle that can disturb inner peace. A peaceful morning has become a priority for Anjasmara.   “I prefer not to argue, not to be in a noisy environment. Ideally, if possible, the morning should start with something calm and comfortable,” he concluded.
