This cave painting is estimated to be 45,500 years old! Erika Richardo's journey to this ancient painting was certainly not without challenges. Imagine traversing a forest that could be slippery due to the rain.
In her personal Instagram post, Erika shares how she and her team had to struggle to get out of the forest for 4.5 hours. Quite an extreme situation, right? However, her spirit to witness this prehistoric artwork in person overcame all obstacles.
Erika Richardo also did not forget to express her gratitude to the researchers and archaeologists who have dedicated themselves to uncovering this history. She also mentioned that this discovery could inspire and be remembered by the Indonesian people.
"THE OLDEST PAINTING IN THE WORLD 45,500 years. This is currently the second oldest painting in the world. This painting was the oldest until the year 2024," wrote Erika Richardo.
"I felt moved when I saw this painting in person. Just entering the cave made me want to cry and wonder what happened tens of thousands of years ago here," she continued.
