According to detik.com, Giring started his political career as a volunteer in the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election, supporting gubernatorial candidate Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and vice gubernatorial candidate Djarot Saiful Hidayat. He then joined the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) and in 2020, Giring became the Acting Chairman of PSI.
In 2019, Giring ran as a legislative candidate in the West Java I electoral district, but unfortunately, he only received 47,069 votes and PSI failed to pass the parliamentary threshold, as reported by merdeka.com. Nevertheless, Giring's political career continued to develop, and he was elected as the Chairman of PSI in November 2021, replacing Grace Natalie.
Giring was eventually appointed as Deputy Minister of Culture by President Prabowo Subianto in the Red and White Cabinet on October 20, 2024. The announcement of this appointment was made directly by Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta that evening.
As the Deputy Minister of Culture, Giring accompanies the Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon. On Instagram, Giring often shares activities related to his duties, such as attending cultural events, discussing with artists, and socializing cultural programs promoted by the government.
Even though he has entered politics, Giring hasn't completely abandoned his music career.
