"Investigators provide an opportunity for both parties to mediate. However, on the other hand, the investigation process must continue. Therefore, the investigation process continues while waiting for the completion of case files," said Ade Hidayat.

Ade Hidayat said that the mediation process has not yielded definitive results due to several obstacles. He also revealed the reasons why the police did not detain Jerinx.

"So, were there any obstacles in today's mediation that were not achieved? The answer is yes. The factors can vary because law enforcement efforts that touch on a sense of justice involve several aspects," he said.

"Why didn't the investigator detain him? There are two reasons, objective and subjective. If it's related to the ITE (Information and Electronic Transactions) Law, there is a third reason accommodated in the SE (Standard Operating Procedure). Objectively, it's clear which articles can be detained, and so on. The second reason subjectively for detention or non-detention is three things: first, fear of escape; second, fear of repeating the offense; and third, fear of destroying evidence," he continued.

In addition, because Jerinx cooperated by attending the investigator's summons, did not destroy evidence, and admitted his mistake, the police concluded not to detain the 44-year-old man.

"From these three subjective aspects, the investigator concluded not to detain him because he attended our summons, even though it was the second summons. Second, the evidence is intact and has been seized, so it cannot be removed. Third, the indication that he will not repeat the offense is shown by his apology and understanding of his mistake, and his promise not to repeat the offense. So, if asked whether he was detained, the answer is that no detention was conducted," he explained.

Meanwhile, when leaving the building of the Directorate of General Crime of the Jakarta Metro Police after mediation, Jerinx nodded to the media who asked if he would go straight home to Bali.
