The figure of Patrice Bouttier became the center of attention during the water blessing ceremony ahead of the wedding of Maxime Bouttier and Luna Maya held on Tuesday, (6/5) yesterday. The French man who has long settled in Bali appeared different in the Javanese beskap he wore.
After marrying Siti Purwanti in 1992, Patrice chose to live in Bali. He still resides on the Island of the Gods, although he briefly moved to Jakarta to accompany his wife who was ill.
Patrice Bouttier, who is of pure French descent, appeared stunning in the Javanese beskap he wore during the water blessing ceremony for his eldest son, Maxime Bouttier. He looked different, but he suited the traditional Javanese attire well.
Patrice is a chef who used to work in a hotel. It was through his job as a chef at this hotel that he met Siti Purwanti, the mother of Maxime Bouttier. They married in 1992, and Siti gave birth to Maxime in France.
Due to his job as a chef in the hotel, young Maxime often moved from place to place. Eventually, they settled in Bali, but then Maxime ventured alone to Jakarta in 2010.
Maxime's maternal family has a strong Javanese heritage. Like Luna Maya, Maxime comes from a mixed family of Javanese and European descent; while Maxime's father is originally from France, Luna's mother is from Austria. However, their families both reside in Bali.
Until now, Patrice still lives in Bali. Although Maxime has a house in Jakarta, he chooses to live in Bali, close to his daughter who is married to a Balinese man.
Until now, Patrice is still a chef. He founded the Patrice Pattisserie Indonesia school that teaches cake making. Patrice's profession once made Maxime want to follow in his father's footsteps, but Patrice encouraged Max to become a model and actor.
Patrice also supports the relationship between Max and Luna Maya. He gave his blessing to his son, which was conveyed in French during the kneeling moment yesterday, Tuesday, (6/5).
