During his time in prison, Zul initially experienced difficult times and felt hopeless. He admitted that in the early days of his sentence, he even wanted to stop making music and withdraw from activities related to music.

"In the early days, people already knew I was a musician, but at that time I felt hopeless here, I didn't want to play music anymore," said Zul at the Special Class IIA Gunung Sindur Prison, Bogor, Tuesday (5/11/2024).

Zul even requested to be placed in the kitchen so he could help cook, or to become a student in the religious guidance program available there. However, the prison officials encouraged Zul to continue to create in the field of music art.

"I even asked to be placed in the kitchen, to help cook food, or to join as a santri, coincidentally there is religious training here. But Mr. Rangga said, 'we need you for this music art, so you can't go anywhere,'" explained Zul.

The decision of the prison authorities to keep Zul involved in this music art activity apparently provided him with new motivation. Although initially feeling hopeless due to the long sentence, Zul's spirit to create again grew.
