Karen Agustiawan, the former CEO of Pertamina, is now embroiled in a corruption case that has shocked the public.
Kapanlagi.com - Amidst the flurry of news and circulating issues, the name AKBP Fajar Widyadharma Lukman Sumaatmaja suddenly became the center of attention. This former Ngada Police Chief was arrested by the Propam Division of the National Police on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at a hotel in Kupang. This arrest adds to the long list of cases involving police personnel in Indonesia.
Fajar was arrested for allegedly being involved in drug cases and immoral acts against minors. He is currently undergoing interrogation at the National Police Headquarters. This case has drawn serious attention from the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs and the National Police Commission, who promised to closely monitor the investigation process.
Fajar is a man born in Jakarta. He attended middle school at SMP Negeri 13 Kota Bandung, then entered SMA Taruna Nusantara (TN). After that, he joined the police academy and graduated in 2004. In 2011, he entered the Police Science College (STIK).
After that, he held several positions in the National Police. He served as the Deputy Chief of Cirebon in 2018, Deputy Chief of Indramayu in 2019, Head of Operations at the Narcotics Directorate of NTT Police in 2021, and as the Chief of Police of Sumba in 2022. On June 25, 2024, Fajar was transferred as the Chief of Police of Ngada.
The arrest of AKBP Fajar in a hotel in Kupang has raised many questions. The Head of Public Relations of NTT Police, Kombes Pol Henry Novika Chandra, revealed that this case is being handled by the National Police Headquarters and the investigation is still ongoing. However, until now there has been no official statement regarding how the arrest took place.
This news of the arrest immediately sparked a strong reaction from the public, especially in the Bajawa area, NTT. Many residents feel disappointed and angry because the police, who are supposed to be at the forefront of the fight against drug crimes, are actually involved in the case. A resident of Bajawa stated, "The police should protect the youth from the threat of drugs, not be involved in it."
The community hopes this case serves as a valuable lesson for the police institution. It is hoped that there will be no more individuals abusing their power. The courage of the community to report misconduct is expected to help create a clean and professional police force.
With all attention focused on this case, it is hoped that the legal process will proceed fairly and transparently. All parties, both the community and the institution, are awaiting the final results of this investigation.
This case is not only disappointing to the public but also concerning for the police institution itself. Several parties within the police force are urging a massive evaluation to ensure that no wider network is involved in this case. They are worried that the impact of this case will tarnish the image of the police, especially in the NTT region.
The Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police has emphasized that AKBP Fajar will undergo legal proceedings according to the applicable regulations. If found guilty, he will face dual sanctions, namely criminal sanctions and police ethics sanctions. This legal process is taken over by the Profession and Security Division (Propam) of the police to ensure transparency.
It is important for the public to know that the law enforcement against Fajar is conducted transparently. This is done to avoid conflicts of interest at the regional level. A transparent legal process is expected to restore public trust in the police institution.
The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs and the National Police Commission have affirmed that they will closely monitor this investigation process. They are committed to ensuring that the penalties imposed on the police personnel involved will be heavier than those for the general public. This is an important step to demonstrate that the law applies equally to all.
