The case of digital fraud has once again caught the public's attention after the father of actress Raline Shah, Rahmat Shah, became a victim of scamming with losses amounting to Rp 254 million. The perpetrators were found to be using fake photos and identities taken from the actress's social media.

As reported by Liputan6, this scamming modus operandi began when the perpetrators pretended to be Raline Shah through a WhatsApp account, complete with a profile photo from her Instagram. The chronology of this case began when Raline Shah's father, Rahmat Shah, received a message via a Whatsapp account claiming to be his daughter. It is known that the incident occurred since August 2025.

The perpetrators used Raline Shah's profile photo taken from her official Instagram account. They started communicating with Rahmat Shah, manipulating him and asking for money to buy Antam gold.

After successfully gaining trust, the perpetrators repeatedly asked for money. Transfers were made several times totaling Rp 254 million to the perpetrators' account.

After realizing something was amiss, Rahmat Shah reported to the Cyber Crime Directorate of the North Sumatra Police. The police then conducted an in-depth investigation into the numbers and accounts used by the perpetrators.

The police finally managed to arrest the suspects on October 10, 2025, at different locations. They consist of 4 perpetrators, two of whom are inmates in a drug case.

Based on the investigation, the perpetrators were found to have carried out their actions from Class I Medan Prison and several locations in North Sumatra. The police team acted quickly and arrested them, including at the prison and in the city of Medan.

Police Commissioner Doni Satria Sembiring from the North Sumatra Police stated in a press conference regarding the scammer case involving Raline Shah's father. Currently, the perpetrators have been detained by the authorities. "This is a scammer crime by manipulating data carried out by Muhammad Syarippudin, who communicated via WhatsApp with the victim, Mr. Rahmat Shah," he revealed.
