Kapanlagi.com - Musician Posan Tobing filed a lawsuit at the Central Jakarta District Court. The lawsuit is directed at a music label, Warner Music Indonesia, for the song "Sayang" sung by Shae. The former drummer of Kotak band suspects copyright infringement committed by the label and several other parties.
Actually, Posan Tobing had filed the lawsuit since June 2020. However, the pandemic caused the trial to be delayed. Regarding this matter, Posan Tobing suffered significant losses.
"Well, if we talk about the losses, there are a lot. It's sad to even talk about it. Imagine, this album is from 2012 (now) and it's already 2021. There are many rights that I should have obtained, of course, my rights for my family's needs," said Posan at the Central Jakarta District Court on Monday (29/11/2021).

For Posan, fighting for his rights is not easy. Especially when he is facing a big label with international status. Because the problem he is facing is quite complicated, Posan has partnered with lawyer Djohansyah. "Many times, this struggle is very long, not a short one. Because we are also facing a music label with an international version. This is not an easy thing but I am assisted by my team of lawyers, we can come this far," he said.

Actually, before going to the legal path, both parties had tried to settle the alleged copyright infringement case of the song "Sayang" through a family approach. Unfortunately, there was no common ground between Posan Tobing and the label.
"Many times (tried to settle it through a family approach), but there was no common ground, that's why we continue to court," said Posan's legal representative, Djohansyah. "We have tried mediation," added Posan.
It should be noted that the alleged case of royalty violation of the song 'Sayang' sung by Shae has entered the trial. The hearing, held at the Central Jakarta District Court, has entered the agenda of listening to witnesses from the plaintiff, Posan Tobing.
'This is a long process, not an easy process, so I am very grateful to my lawyers so far. I have said that this is not an easy matter until this point. It's not an easy process for me especially. So the journey is very painful,' said Posan Tobing.
'So I ask all friends to please also help the Indonesian music industry, if our music continues like this, how long can Indonesian musicians prosper,' Posan Tobing concluded.
