Remembering Marissa Haque, Anies Baswedan Amazed by Her Dedication to Social Activities

Kapanlagi.com - Anies Baswedan attended the mourning house to pray for the deceased Marissa Haque who passed away today (10/2). The former governor of DKI Jakarta remembered Marissa Haque as a remarkable artist, politician, and academic. Anies stated that throughout her life, Marissa was known for her extraordinary dedication.

"Throughout her life, her extraordinary dedication to her profession, to the social activities that she continuously worked on, and to her family, Mas Ikang and the deceased," said Anies Baswedan at the mourning house, Tuesday (10/2/2024).

Furthermore, Anies added that Marissa and Ikang not only created works in the arts but also cared about social issues and were involved in the political process.

"They were not just creating art but they also cared about social issues and were even involved in the political process, which shows that their lives were lives that provided benefits," he said.

"That’s why we all felt shocked that suddenly Ms. Marissa was gone, with no illness or any news, she passed away suddenly, we believe the deceased passed away in a state of khusnul khotimah," he continued.

Anies also prayed that Allah SWT elevates Marissa's status in His sight and forgives all her mistakes and sins. He hopes that the family left behind, especially Ikang Fawzi and the children, are granted strength and resilience in facing this very heavy trial.

"Insya Allah, her status will be elevated in the sight of Allah, her mistakes and sins forgiven, and the family given strength and resilience in enduring this very heavy trial," he said.

"Earlier, we conveyed to Mas Ikang and the children that this is not a light test for those who passed suddenly, but for those who are left behind, it is very heavy. Insya Allah," he added.

Anies also stated that the Indonesian nation has lost one of its best daughters who has contributed greatly in various fields, including arts, culture, social issues, and community service. "We, as the Indonesian nation, have lost one of our best children who has contributed greatly in the fields of arts, culture, social issues, and community service," he said.

While reminiscing about the past, Anies shared about their time together while studying in the United States. "We remember very well Ms. Marissa at home for a while, at that time we were both in a distant land in America. I was studying while Ms. Marissa was also studying, so our family was close when we were both in school," he concluded.
