Kapanlagi.com - Twenty-three years have passed since the release of its first film, SHERINA'S ADVENTURE 2 is ready to be shown in theaters. This musical drama genre is still starred by Sherina Munaf and Derby Romero as Sherina and Sadam.
Mira Lesmana, the producer, admitted that this film was initially prepared for shooting in 2019 and to be released in 2020. However, after the pandemic hit, all preparations had to be stopped.
"It has been quite a long journey since 2019. We initially hoped to release it in 2020, but the pandemic stopped us. It was very difficult to start again, but finally, we were able to start shooting in late 2022," said Mira, interviewed in Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta, on Monday (25/9/2023).
When planning the making of PETUALANGAN SHERINA 2, Mira Lesmana had not yet found the main conflict for Sherina and Sadam to go on another adventure. Until Mira joined Sherina Munaf in the event of releasing wild orangutans into the Kalimantan forest.
"When deciding to make a sequel, we thought we should bring a good story about something that needs to be conveyed. At that time, we hadn't found it yet, and when I was talking to Sherina, she had to go to Kalimantan for the release of wild orangutans. I asked her how it was, and it turned out that Sherina was helping the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation," Mira said.
"After that, I said, 'Can Riri and I join?' And finally, we went through a release process that left a deep impression on me and Riri Riza. We finally said, 'This is it, this is the story we bring,'" added Matias Muchus' wife.
To be able to participate in the release of orangutans into the wild, it seems that there are many processes involved. However, Mira Lesmana feels grateful to be able to come to Kalimantan and come up with ideas for a film.
"Sherina once asked, 'Are you really going to join, because the journey is difficult?' We were serious and got two seats. It turns out that the process to get there is quite long, we have to check blood, X-rays, and much more," said Mira.
