Following the decision of a seven-year prison sentence, the fate of Ammar Zoni's detention location has become a concern. The former husband of Irish Bella stated his desire to serve his sentence in Jakarta rather than being returned to the Nusakambangan Correctional Facility.

The main reason for Ammar is family factors. Being in Jakarta would make it easier for him to be visited by his extended family compared to being incarcerated in Nusakambangan, which is quite far away.

"Yes, Bang Ammar just mentioned that for detention, he will follow the applicable regulations. Whether in Nusa Kambangan, or in Salemba, or yes in Salemba. If possible, he would prefer to stay in Jakarta because he can be close to his family," said Ammar Zoni's attorney, Dwana Toligi, when met in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, Thursday (24/4/2026).

The legal representatives plan to file an official request regarding this detention location. They will strive to have Ammar placed in a prison near Jakarta or Bogor to support their client's psychological condition.

"But for that, we also intend to file a process if a transfer from Nusa Kambangan to Jakarta or Bogor is necessary so that he can be closer to his family," he stated.

In addition to the location issue, Ammar also has high hopes for the legal process at the appellate level up to cassation. His main target is to obtain a much lighter sentence or even be acquitted so he can return to his family.

"Ammar Zoni just wants the best in this legal effort, if possible as lightly as possible according to the High Council or later in the Supreme Court. We will continue to pursue legal efforts for justice for Ammar Zoni in the future," he asserted.

Regarding the news of the objections from the younger brother, Aditya Zoni, concerning the change of lawyers, the new legal team responded casually. They emphasized that the legal mandate comes directly from Ammar Zoni as the concerned party.

"If there are objections, then those are family objections, but currently we are receiving the authority directly from Ammar Zoni. Ammar Zoni is the one who requested legal assistance from the Krisna Murti Law office. So we, in order to respect his wishes, as advocates, we will certainly accept it," explained Dwana.
