Kapanlagi.com - Famous presenter Ruben Onsu is back with a grand plan to celebrate Indonesia's Independence Day. The former husband of Sarwendah revealed that he is preparing himself for an unusual task, which is to raise the Red and White flag underwater with sharks.

It is certainly a great honor for Ruben to be entrusted with this challenging task. He also shared a little detail about the grand plan that is currently in the preparation stage.

"Well, this is it. This is what I am preparing for. That's why, starting this week we should be in training. So in the shark pool, when the flag is raised, we will have the sharks there. So in the shark pool, that's where we will be," said Ruben Onsu when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Friday (1/8/2025).

1. Diving Is Not New for Ruben

Diving is actually not a new thing for this father of three; he even already has a certificate. However, he realizes that the challenge this time is at a very different level.

This is because it involves wild animals and sacred moments of the state. For him, this is an opportunity that does not come to everyone.

2. Grateful to Get This Offer

"Well, alhamdulillah I was given the trust for a big event. I was there and, well, if diving I have been diving for a long time," explained Ruben.

"My coach is there, right? So, when I got that offer, I immediately said, 'okay'," he continued.

3. Ruben's Biggest Challenge

According to him, the biggest challenge is not just about technical diving skills, but also an extraordinary mental strength. Being in a pool with sharks while waving a flag certainly requires focus.

He also needs a high level of calmness. Ruben explained how important it is to maintain mental condition to avoid panic.

4. Facing Sharks

"And in this position, you have to wave the flag, and secondly, we have to descend together. Like that. Thirdly, there’s a shark right in front of your face," said Ruben Onsu.

"So how do you do this? Right? They are sensitive too. If we panic, if we are scared, they will be more aggressive," he continued.

5. Undergo Intensive Training

To adapt, a series of intensive training sessions have been prepared so that he and the sharks can get used to each other. He stated that this process is important to build calmness and ensure everything goes smoothly. According to him, calming oneself is the key to the success of this mission.

"So, calming oneself is to train so that they get used to us first. Then, yes, there’s a time for feeding them, and I follow everything," he said.

6. There Are Obstacles to Delay Several Sessions

Although he already has a training schedule, Ruben admits that there are some minor obstacles that have caused him to delay several sessions. He hopes to soon refocus on preparations to perform his best on the big day. For him, thorough preparation is everything.

"I just keep saying, 'let's postpone for now, let's postpone for now.' That means it will be tight later. Ideally, I really want to have no more training on the 14th, 15th, and 16th. That's what I want, but if this has already passed three training sessions," he concluded.

7. There Are 9 Training Sessions

Ruben Onsu has a schedule to undergo nine training sessions, each lasting two full hours without interruption.

As part of these training sessions, he is also given a special opportunity to interact directly with sharks three times.
