Kapanlagi.com - Actor Ammar Zoni couldn't hold back his tears during the trial of a drug abuse case at the South Jakarta District Court. The public prosecutor demanded one year of imprisonment for Irish Bella's husband.
"Declaring that Muhammad Ammar Akbar alias Ammar Zoni bin Suhendri Zoni has been proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act of drug abuse of category 1 for himself," said the public prosecutor during the trial on Friday (8/9/2023).
"Imposing a sentence of 1 year in prison with a deduction for the rehabilitation period already served for each defendant (Ammar Zoni, M, and RH)," added the public prosecutor.
According to the prosecutor, the charges given refer to Article 127 paragraph 1 letter A of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. The prosecutor assessed that Ammar and other suspects are included as users.
The trial itself continued immediately with a defense agenda. When Ammar's legal counsel, Emile Oemar Alamudy, read the defense, Ammar appeared to only bow down.
Only after the trial ended did Ammar immediately approach his younger brother, Aditya Zoni, and hugged him. Ammar's eyes appeared swollen, occasionally wiping his tears.
Of course, Ammar felt disappointed with the charges read by the prosecutor during the trial. He did not expect the prosecutor to demand a 12-month prison sentence.
"Yes, of course, Ammar is disappointed," said Emile as he walked to the court's detention room.
Ammar himself will have another trial on September 26, 2023. On that day, the judge will determine what punishment will be given, as the trial's agenda is the verdict.
