Sentenced to 7 Years, Ammar Zoni Potentially Returning to Nusakambangan

Ammar Zoni's fate is once again in the spotlight following recent developments regarding his legal status. The government, through the Directorate General of Corrections, revealed the possibility of transferring Ammar back to Nusakambangan Prison after the court's verdict.

This certainty was conveyed by the Subdirector of Cooperation at the Directorate General of Corrections, Rika Aprianti. She explained that the legal process that Ammar Zoni is undergoing has now entered the advanced stage after the verdict was pronounced.

Rika mentioned that the next step is to wait for the administrative process before the final decision regarding the transfer is made. Coordination has also been carried out with various parties, including the prosecutor's office and the court, she explained."For Ammar Zoni, yesterday the friends also already knew, right, that it has been decided seven years and there is a seven-day reflection period, which has also been passed on Thursday, eh, yesterday," she said when met at her office in Central Jakarta on Monday (4/5).

Furthermore, Rika revealed that the possibility of transfer to Nusakambangan still refers to the letter from the Directorate General of Corrections. In the letter, it is stated that after all court proceedings are completed, Ammar will return to serve his sentence there.

"According to the permit issued by the Director General of Corrections, it is indeed stated that after all the trial processes are completed, Ammar Zoni and his friends will serve their sentences again at Lapas Nusakambangan," he revealed.

However, this process cannot be carried out in the near future. Rika emphasized that they are still waiting for a legally binding decision or inkrah as the basis for execution by the prosecutor's office."Certainly, in that decision, the next step is the issuance of a copy of the court's decision. After that, there will be an inkrah. The inkrah will lead to the execution by the prosecutor's office," he explained.

On the other hand, Ammar Zoni's family was known to have made efforts to prevent the actor from being transferred to Nusakambangan. However, the Directorate General of Corrections still respects this while waiting for instructions from the leadership."We respect Ammar Zoni and his family's desire to, uh, serve his sentence not in Nusakambangan, yes. But once again, we are waiting for directions from the leadership," he stated.

If he is later transferred to Nusakambangan, Ammar Zoni is likely to be placed in a high-risk category prison. However, this status is not permanent and can change based on assessment results.Rika added that each inmate will undergo evaluation after six months. The results will determine whether the risk level can be lowered in line with behavioral changes during their sentence."So we do not want our inmates to stay too long in high-risk prisons. Because this is part of our rehabilitation efforts," she concluded.
