Seo Ji Hye, Yoon Kye Sang, and Kim Ji Suk on the Drama 'KISS SIXTH SENSE', Reunion After 17 Years and Many Kissing Scenes Challenges

This romantic fantasy genre drama tells the story of Yisool (Seo Ji Hye) who has the ability to see someone's future if her lips touch that person's body. One day, accidentally, Yisool's lips touch the neck of her boss at the advertising company where she works, Minhu (Yoon Kye Sang). At that moment, she sees herself and her boss, whom she dislikes, being together on a bed in the future.

Seo Ji Hye, Yoon Kye Sang, and Kim Ji Suk had an interview with several media outlets and answered the given questions. This is their interview with Kapanlagi.com and other media outlets that took place on Wednesday (25/5/2022).

1. What is the biggest challenge during filming?

Yoon Kye Sang:

For me, who plays a character with heightened senses, the biggest challenge is to portray it carefully and make my performance convincing. So I had many conversations with the director and Ji Hye about how I could do it. I think another challenge that we focused on was ensuring that the supernatural element, which is also a very important theme, could make it a good romance.

Seo Ji Hye:

I play a character who can see the future through vision when her lips touch someone else's body. The challenge for me is to translate that into my acting and show it smoothly. It's a difficult and heavy part, but also exciting. We had great chemistry on the filming location. So I think we have more fun memories than making it feel difficult.

Kim Ji Suk:

I also had a great time on the filming location and all the memories are good. Except if I have to choose one challenge, it would be when I played someone in their twenties, so I wanted to look young and even joke if the director could use CG or effects to make me look younger.

2. Do you believe that you have a strong sense of taste?

Yoon Kye Sang:
I don't believe that he has a strong sense of taste. When I first meet someone, I usually take my time to get to know them.

Seo Ji Hye:
Of course, as an actor, he (Yoon Kye Sang) has to pay close attention to the emotional factor to ensure vigilance against certain things. Moreover, I like to explore my own thoughts and see my heart because I have to act in many emotional scenes and I also think about how this character feels in those scenes. Because sometimes there is a distance between the two and it is my task to unite them.

Kim Ji Suk:
I also feel the same way as Ji Hye. As an actor, your sense of taste must be very sensitive and you can bring it out anytime. But what's more important is intuition. Sometimes I only act after adjusting to my own pace. But sometimes following intuition is the best choice.

3. For Seo Ji Hye, do you want to have the ability like the character you portrayed in real life?

Seo Ji Hye:

The character has a special ability to see the future. I also think that if I have that ability in real life, whether I want it or not in my life. In conclusion, even though I have this ability, it won't bring much change in my life because the future is determined by your actions and depends on what you do. So I don't think it will have much influence even if I have that ability in the real world. Although I think it would be better not to have it. But in the end, everything depends on your mindset.

4. There are many kissing scenes in this drama, is it difficult for you, Seo Ji Hye?

Seo Ji Hye:

Honestly, it's very difficult, especially because there are many kissing scenes in this drama, especially towards the end. It's a challenge for us to create good kissing scenes. Because these scenes are not just about kissing, but also important to show the details of a mutual relationship. I want these scenes to look realistic for workplace kisses. For the first kiss scene in the future vision, we recorded it almost at the end of the shooting period. The script described an intense kissing scene, so we talked a lot about how to do it. We practiced a lot. Yeah, it was quite challenging.

5. Apart from the character you played, what character do you think will be the scene stealer?

Yoon Kye Sang:
I believe Hong Yisool's character played by Ji Hye. Her character is humorous and a sophisticated office woman. She portrays her character's daily life in great detail and I am very impressed with her acting.

Seo Ji Hye:
I would choose Lee Pil Yo played by Kim Ji Suk. Although my character and Min Hu have eccentric narratives and an important relationship, this third person is very important because they add a lot of colors to our relationship, making it more interesting and tense.

Kim Ji Suk:
In my opinion, it is the employees at the advertising company where Yesool works. Their acting is spectacular in depicting the real world of office workers. Every character is excellent. So you should pay attention to them.

6. For Seo Ji Hye and Yoon Kye Sang, KISS SIXTH SENSE is your reunion after acting together years ago. How do you maintain that chemistry after several years?

Yoon Kye Sang:
Because we have worked together in a drama 17 years ago, we already had good chemistry from the beginning, and it plays a role in our chemistry now. Because when you meet someone for the first time, it takes time to feel comfortable with that person, and we didn't need any time at all. Because we feel comfortable with each other when we meet again. And because this drama has many intimate scenes, it would look bad for the drama if we are not comfortable with our co-star. I think it's advantageous and can make a good drama because of that chemistry.

Seo Ji Hye:
I feel the same way. We reunite after several years. I am very excited and at the same time feel a little strange because it is a rare opportunity to be in a drama with the same person after 17 years. It is a comfortable experience, we can quickly become close to each other. Like Kye Sang said, there are many romantic scenes in this drama, it could be awkward but not at all because we feel comfortable with each other. Everything flows naturally. And I think that's the reason why we can have many enjoyable experiences.

7. Because this drama is based on a popular webtoon, did you feel any pressure while filming due to high expectations from fans of the webtoon?

Yoon Kye Sang:
I tried not to feel the pressure that comes from portraying something based on the original adaptation. Because every time I read the script for the first time, it belongs to the story. And after filming, I wondered if I should see the original webtoon or not, but I decided to focus more on my co-stars, because that is more important.

Seo Ji Hye:
The original webtoon is indeed very popular. Although we took inspiration from it, such as supernatural abilities, I feel there is a difference in genre. Instead of feeling pressure, I am more excited to play in this drama.

Kim Ji Suk:
I understand that the original webtoon is very popular. But I intentionally didn't read it, as Kye Sang said, I tried to feel the script. Because if I see and read the webtoon, I'm worried I will be influenced by the original character.

8. Do you feel that the character you portrayed is similar to yourself?

Yoon Kye Sang:
When it comes to special abilities, not at all. But when it comes to personality, I think there are similarities between me and the character I portrayed, Min Hu. Sometimes I can be sharp, but in reality, I am a man with a heart.

Seo Ji Hye:
I think Yesool and I are quite similar. Because when you act, unconsciously, you have to bring out what is inside you when portraying the character. Of course, when I act, while doing that, I channel my emotions towards him, as well as my true self. That's why there are similarities there.

Kim Ji Suk:
I think the most important thing about the character I portrayed, Pil Yo, is first love. When I see how Yesool and Pil Yo, as former partners who have memories of different first loves, it makes me realize that everyone surely has memories of their first love. Everyone has memories of the first person they loved, right? Does that person feel the same way you feel? It reminds me of my first love.
