Seriously Running for Election, Former Kerispatih Member Storms the Market to Meet Street Musicians

Kapanlagi.com - Former keyboardist and hit songwriter of the band Kerispatih, Doadibadai Hollo or better known as Storm, apparently will run for the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in 2024. He chose to become a candidate in the electoral district (Dapil) of Depok City and Bekasi City.

Storm registered himself as a candidate for the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the PSI (Indonesian Solidarity Party). He is serious about his intention this time.

His seriousness is evident when Storm visits the market to meet street artists. He had many conversations and exchanged ideas with street artists.

After chatting and exchanging ideas with street artists, Badai realized that there are no facilities in Bekasi such as parks for street artists to find inspiration.

“I represent the electoral district of Kota Depok and Kota Bekasi. Yesterday, I conducted a field visit to the market. After the market visit, I went to the studio and made a song,” said Badai when met in the Gunawarman area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday afternoon (21/6).

“I told them, 'we need to encourage a city to have a city park that is intended, among other things, for artistic creativity,’” he added.

The storm believes that street musicians or street artists should not be called beggars because they have talent.

"If you are in the art industry, the street music industry is definitely on the streets, they are at traffic lights, and they can even be categorized as beggars. But they have talent," he said.

In addition, during his visit, Badai also performed with the artists from Bekasi. On that occasion, Badai realized that there are things that need to be fought for street artists there, such as encouraging them to create and have proper education.

"I gather many artists, we perform. We can earn income from that, but with something directed. They are no longer an industry that can be criticized by people, or if they meet street musicians, they won't say 'sorry, sorry'. It's not like that anymore. They will appreciate it if they can sing and have their own creations. That's one thing," he explained.

"The second thing is education. I think education is needed for these artists too, they are not well-educated, they need intelligence, correct knowledge, and correct legal knowledge. That's what we encourage," he added.

Not only providing encouragement for the artists to have a platform to create and proper education, Badai also wants their welfare to be taken care of in the future.

"The third thing is health. Artists work from morning till morning, but their health is not taken care of, their national health insurance is full of holes. So that also needs to be encouraged. So, those are the issues that I have surveyed," he concluded.
