Shooting a Horror Film, Febby Rastanty Gains Many Lessons About Marriage

In this film, Febby plays the role of Farah, a female student who leads a complicated life with her husband, Wahab, a candidate for the regent played by Oka Antara.

The shooting process of WOMAN EXPERT IN HELL coincided with Febby's wedding preparations with her boyfriend, Drajad Djumantara. The couple officially married on November 9, 2024.

"Maybe I learned more religious values from this film," said Febby when met in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, Tuesday (12/11/2024).

Febby stated that she not only learned from the storyline of the film, but also had many discussions with Ustaz Alfi, a preacher who was involved in the shooting process.

"What I mean is not just from the overall story, but because we were shooting with Ustaz Alfi, I wanted to talk about marriage from a religious perspective," she continued.

2. Ask About the Role of a Wife

In her conversation with the ustaz, Febby admitted that she was interested in exploring the limits of a wife's obedience to her husband, especially when the husband does something that is not in accordance with religious teachings. "So it’s like, yes, it is true that a wife should not disbelieve her husband, she must obey, but to what extent? What kind of husband is worthy of being obeyed?" she expressed.

According to Febby, this film helped her question the role of a wife in dealing with a husband who may not align with goodness. "Can we just stay silent or can we resist and say no? So, how far can parents intervene as well?" she added, explaining the challenges often faced by women in marriage.

Febby also expressed that the discussions helped her better understand the essence and meaning of marriage from a religious perspective.

"So, actually it’s not just from the overall story, but beyond that because we talked a lot about the religious perspective on marriage. So yeah, I learned a lot," said Febby.

The film WOMAN EXPERT IN HELL presents a story rich with religious and local cultural nuances, featuring the tale of a woman who seeks the truth amidst a complicated married life. Febby mentioned that Farah's role also helped her understand how a wife should remain steadfast in living her life.
