Shooting 'HAIR FACTORY MONSTER' at PFN, Dian Sastrowardoyo Reminisces About Her Junior High School Days

Kapanlagi.com - After her success in the film ARUNA AND HER TONGUE, Dian Sastrowardoyo collaborates again with director Edwin. However, this time, Dian takes on a different role by sitting behind the scenes as Executive Producer, rather than as an actress.

Dian Sastrowardoyo and Edwin will join forces on their latest project, a fantasy horror film titled MONSTER HAIR FACTORY, produced by Palari Film and filmed at the State Film Production Studio (PFN). Dian expressed her happiness to work with Edwin again after the success of their previous collaboration.

"I am very happy to finally be able to collaborate with Palari Film on something different, as I am now the executive producer instead of an actress. It's amazing, I am proud to be able to work together, we are very supportive of Mr. Edwin who is highly anticipated on the international stage," said Dian Sastrowardoyo at the PFN Studio, Otista, East Jakarta on Monday (18/11/2024)

1. Collaboration of Three Countries

In the film's press conference, Dian Sastrowardoyo expressed her pride in being involved in the project MONSTER PABRIK RAMBUT, a film that involves collaboration from three countries in its production process, including Japan and Singapore. According to her, this international collaboration is a significant step for Indonesian cinema, which is increasingly recognized on a global scale.

"I am very proud to partner with co-producers from Japan, and Antony Chen also from Singapore, and from Switzerland as well. Oh, we feel like we are part of a very multinational project. The writer is already a Japanese writer, and the cinematographer is a 73-year-old woman who is a DOP (Director of Photography)," said Dian Sastrowardoyo.

"So this is a very international project. It is time for Indonesian filmmakers to collaborate more internationally like this. Thank you once again and congratulations," she added.

2. Remembering Middle School

On this occasion, Dian also shared memories from the past around the PFN Building, which is now the filming location for the movie MONSTER HAIR FACTORY. She vividly remembers when she was still in Junior High School (SMP), where she often ate at a warteg located in that area.

"PFN is really interesting, I was in middle school in front of it. It feels awkward to say (that I) skipped school. I used to love having lunch at the warteg, it was really good, they had tongue and the sambal was really delicious," reminisced Dian Sastrowardoyo.

Dian also revealed that she often traveled by microlet from the PFN area to Kalimalang, East Jakarta. She even still clearly remembers the route she usually took using that microlet.

"Here I would take the microlet in front towards Kalimalang, first crossing to take the microlet to Kampung Melayu. I would take the M32 towards Kalimalang, that was my microlet, many don’t know that Dian Sastro used to take the microlet," she continued.

The film MONSTER HAIR FACTORY is still in the production stage of filming at the State Film Production Studio (PFN), East Jakarta. This fantasy horror film is scheduled to be released in 2025.
