1. Side Effects of Chloroquine

Andrea Dian mentioned that one of the drugs she received during the healing process was chloroquine. Yes, this drug was mentioned by President Jokowi as a supportive drug to cure Covid-19.

Unfortunately, it turned out that the drug was not suitable for Andrea Dian. The woman known for her love of sports admitted to experiencing several side effects.

"Moving to Wisma Atlet, I received chloroquine. But it seems that I am not suitable for it because there are side effects that I experience. Anxiety, nausea, vomiting, dizziness like fainting, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, trembling hands," said Andrea Dian as quoted from Tribunnews.

2. Given Several Types of Drugs

After experiencing several side effects, the medical team finally decided to stop using chloroquine in Andrea's treatment. "After observing the drug, it was stopped. So if you experience side effects after taking it, you should report it to the nurse," said Andrea.

In addition to chloroquine, Andrea Dian was also given multivitamins, vitamin C, and 4 other types of drugs. "During the treatment, I received multivitamins, vitamin C (500ml), and there are 4 other types of drugs, one of which is chloroquine. Three meals a day. Minimum of 2 liters of water per day," she explained.

3. Strong Medicine

Chloroquine itself is considered as one of the strong medicines that should not be consumed recklessly. Dr. Nafrialdi, Pharmacology Expert & Clinical Research Supporting Unit, Faculty of Medicine UI, stated that this medicine should be consumed according to the doctor's prescription.

"Must use a doctor's prescription," he said as quoted from Tribunnews.

Several side effects that arise from the use of this medicine are ranging from nausea, vision disturbances, hearing disturbances, to heart rhythm disturbances. And if people consume it without a doctor's prescription, they will only accumulate these effects.

"The problem is if (chloroquine) is used by people who do not have knowledge or authority, (those people) will only accumulate side effects," he said.

Worse, chloroquine can also cause death if used in extreme doses.
