Sule Frees His Children's Career Choices, Doesn't Want to Force Them to Be What They Don't Want

Sule has his own way of educating his children as a parent of five kids who are now starting to grow up. He is known as a democratic father who never imposes his will on his children. The former husband of Nathalie Holscher prefers to give full support to whatever dreams Rizky Febian and his siblings want to pursue.

According to Sule, the role of parents is only to provide guidance and facilities when the child has found their interest or talent. He does not want his children to feel burdened by parental expectations to become artists like their father. Sule realizes that each child has their own path and plans that must be respected.

"No, once we find the direction, that’s when we support and guide. If we haven’t found it yet, it’s difficult. They have their own planning, they have their own aspirations. So parents should not force their children to become something," explained Sule in the Warung Buncit area, South Jakarta, on Monday (1/19/2026).

Regarding education, Sule also provides flexibility by implementing a homeschooling system for his children. This choice is made so that they can balance between academic education and the career or hobbies they are pursuing. Sule believes that in today's modern era, sources of information and knowledge can be obtained from anywhere, as long as there is a willingness to read and learn.

"Nowadays it's advanced, ask ChatGPT, ask AI. Is that right? Read Google. I can know the history of Sumedang, know this history, read. Because reading is the window to the world," Sule explained.

Sule also gave advice about the importance of focus in making life choices. He once told Rizky Febian that life is a choice that must be taken seriously without being half-hearted. He does not want his children to get caught up in confusion between pursuing formal education that they do not like or focusing on the talents they already have.

"So life is a choice, don't make it double. How do you divide time between shooting and school, Kang? It's not like anything, just divide it like that," he said.

Sule's principle in educating his children is to create a harmonious and open relationship. He always tries to be a friend to his children so that they feel comfortable sharing stories or asking for opinions. This way, Sule finds it easier to monitor his children's development amid the onslaught of social media trends today.

"No, because all my kids are homeschooled. Homeschooling is only three days a week. So it's not too troublesome. The troublesome part is the cost," concluded Sule.
