The story begins with Monkey D. Luffy, a cheerful young man with a big dream: to become the Pirate King. He gains rubber-like body powers after eating a Devil Fruit, a mysterious fruit that grants special abilities but makes the user unable to swim. Despite this, Luffy bravely sets sail and starts his adventure on the seas.

During his journey, Luffy meets Roronoa Zoro, a swordsman initially known as a bounty hunter. After helping to free him from trouble with the Marines, Zoro ultimately decides to sail with Luffy. They then encounter Nami, a navigator who is very skilled at reading maps and sea conditions. This is where the Straw Hat crew's journey begins, and their adventure on the seas truly starts.

Their adventure continues to the floating restaurant Baratie, where they meet the talented chef Sanji. After helping defend the restaurant from an attack by the pirate Don Krieg, Sanji decides to join the Straw Hat crew and sail towards their next adventure.

The biggest conflict in the first season occurs when Nami turns out to be working for the fish-man pirate Arlong. This is quite shocking for the Straw Hat crew, who had begun to trust her. It is later revealed that Nami was actually forced to steal in order to save her village, Coco Village, which has been under Arlong's control. This condition trapped Nami and forced her to continue working for him.

When Nami finally asks for help, Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat crew immediately step in. They manage to defeat Arlong and free the village. At the end of the first season, Luffy officially becomes a wanted pirate with a bounty of 30 million Berries, while the Straw Hat crew prepares to sail towards the Grand Line, where their true adventure is just beginning.
