Kapanlagi.com - Singer Tata Janeeta is trying her luck in the entertainment world. This time, she is not only contributing her voice through the soundtrack but also acting in the horror film MUSLIHAT, which will be released starting April 17, 2025. Met at the gala premiere at XXI Plaza Senayan on Tuesday (4/8), Tata admitted that this experience has become a valuable moment in her career.
Although her role is not large, she is still grateful for the new opportunity to explore her abilities outside of singing.
"Yes, Alhamdulillah, this is my first experience acting in a film, even if it's a small one. Here, I also made the soundtrack, so I was involved in playing a role here," said Tata.
Interestingly, the reason Tata ventured into acting is quite simple and personal. She admitted that she never imagined she would act in a film, but eventually got involved because her husband, Bugie, who is also the producer of the film Muslihat, offered her a role related to the music world.
"There's nothing, I never thought about it. But since the producer happens to be my husband, and there’s a singing part like a traditional singer, so why not let me do it, since my background is also singing," she revealed.
Tata also acknowledged that she felt a bit awkward when she had to perform as a traditional singer in the film. Despite having a background as a singer, delivering traditional singing style is not an easy task. "Yeah, it felt awkward because I'm not a traditional singer; I just asked for help from my mom to teach me." It's not that difficult to be a sinden, right?" she said modestly.
1. Challenges in Acting
Her role as a mother who loses a child brings its own emotional challenges for Tata. She has to discard her identity as Tata Janeeta and fully immerse herself in the character of Sinta, the mother who loses her child and experiences mental health issues.
"Coincidentally, I am a mother of three, so building that feeling, thank God, was not too difficult. The only challenge is that because the role is not myself, I have to eliminate Tata Janeeta and become Sinta, the mother," she said.
The shooting process did not always go smoothly. Tata recounted that almost all of her scenes were shot outdoors, and they had to face unpredictable weather.
"The difficulty is this, my scene parts are all outdoor, at that time when shooting it was raining constantly. So I was already made up and ready, but we didn't shoot, then waited until the afternoon, still didn’t shoot. It turns out being an actor is tough, anyway, actors in Indonesia are really cool," Tata explained enthusiastically.
2. Addicted to Acting?
Despite the challenges, Tata admits to being addicted to acting and is open to the possibility of returning to film in the future. However, for now, Tata still considers the world of singing as her main source of income.
"There is a feeling, like, I want to do it again. Art is vast, I just keep learning while delving into the script, and I have an acting coach," she added.
"Because I am still new, so I am still singing. With singing, it’s direct. But you really can't compare them all, each has its own enjoyment," she said.
The film MUSLIHAT tells the story of Syafa and Jihan who move to an orphanage hoping for a better life. However, that hope turns into a nightmare when they become involved in supernatural events that unveil the dark secrets of the orphanage, a place where spirits reside. The tension peaks when Jihan must choose between saving her friend or allowing an evil entity to continue controlling Syafa's body.
