Teaser 'RAINBOW ON MARS' Released, Starring Rio Dewanto to Lutesha

Mahakarya Pictures has finally released the first teaser trailer for RAINBOW ON MARS, a family adventure film that fully combines live-action and 3D animation. The release of this teaser marks the beginning of the promotional campaign for the film, which is scheduled to be released in 2026. The production concept is developed with a hybrid approach, a technique that is still rarely used in Indonesian filmmaking.

This teaser shows the atmosphere of planet Mars and the life of Pelangi, the first human born on that red planet. Since childhood, Pelangi grew up alongside intelligent robots and then undertook an important mission to find magical minerals to save the Earth. 

Producer Dendi Reynando explained that the teaser is the initial gateway to introduce the world built by Mahakarya Pictures. "This teaser is prepared as an entrance to the world of RAINBOW ON MARS," he said during a press conference at XXI Plaza Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday (24/11).

Rainbow on Mars stars cross-generational actors such as Messi Gusti, Myesha Lin Adeeva, Lutesha, Livy Renata, and Rio Dewanto. All of these actors play human characters who interact with animated robot characters that are an important part of Rainbow's journey.

Some of the robot characters featured include Batik, Sulil, Kimchi, Yoman, and Petya. In the teaser, these robots are depicted as loyal partners of Rainbow in undertaking a major mission on Mars. The interaction between live-action actors and animation is the main focus in the development of hybrid technology being worked on by the production team.

This film is produced by Dendi Reynando, directed by Upie Guava, and written by Alim Sudio along with Upie. XR technology is also used to create a visual blend between the real world and 3D animation, making the film appear even more futuristic.

The teaser showcases a Mars red atmosphere, visuals of robots, and the relationship of Pelangi with her new world. This futuristic approach marks that the film relies on technology while also highlighting elements of humanity.

Director Upie Guava, known for his passion for exploring visual technology, explained that the creative process of this film was full of challenges. "Hybrid technology provides space for broader imagination, yet remains humanistic because the essence of the film is about family relationships and friendship," he stated.

Brief synopsis: Pelangi on Mars follows Pelangi's journey in carrying out a mission to save Earth. This film will be released in 2026 as a family-friendly viewing experience with a hybrid technology approach that is still rarely used in Indonesia.
