Tell the Story of Four Indonesian Movement Figures, Titimangsa Foundation Holds a Performance Titled 'Those Who Wait in Banda Naira'

Kapanlagi.com - Titimangsa Foundation and Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation present a performance titled THOSE WHO WAIT IN BANDA NAIRA. This performance tells the story of the meeting of four Indonesian movement figures, namely Sutan Sjahrir, Mohammad Hatta, dr. Tjipto Mangoenkoesoemo, and Iwa Koesoema Soemanteri in the exile land of Banda Naira. This play will be performed on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at 20:00 WIB at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta, and will be broadcast virtually starting Friday, December 17, 2021 at 19:00 WIB for 6 months on the IndonesiaKaya YouTube channel.

This performance, which is carried out amidst the pandemic, also adheres to strict health protocols. This was expressed by Renita Adrian, Program Director of Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation.

1. Story 'Those Who Wait in Banda Naira'

Those Who Wait in Banda Naira tells the story of the meeting of four Indonesian movement figures: Bung Syahrir, Bung Hatta, Bung Tjipto, and Bung Iwa, in the land of exile, Banda Naira.

In 1936, Sjahrir and Hatta arrived in Banda Naira as political prisoners. They met with other political prisoners, Tjipto and Iwa, who had already been there. Despite being in exile, they were not afraid to continue their struggle in the fields of social and education.

2. Originating from the Novel 'Entitled In Banda'

A novel by Sergius Sutanto entitled 'Bung Di Banda' published by Gagas Media has attracted the attention of the Titimangsa Foundation to be staged as the 52nd production.

The novel 'Bung Di Banda' was adapted by the late Gunawan Maryanto as a script for the performance, which was then reinterpreted by Wawan Sofwan for the performance of THOSE WHO WAIT IN BANDA NAIRA, in order to be enjoyed and accepted well by art enthusiasts who watch it directly or from home.

3. Cast of 'Mereka Yang Menunggu Di Banda Naira'

This theater performance is directed by Wawan Sofwan, produced by Happy Salma, and the script is written by Gunawan Maryanto, which was later interpreted by Wawan Sofwan.

This performance brings together dedicated actors from film and theater, namely Reza Rahadian as Sutan Sjahrir, Lukman Sardi as dr. Tjipto Mangoenkoesoemo, Tanta Ginting as Mohammad Hatta, Verdi Solaiman as Iwa Koesoema Soemanteri, and Willem Bevers as Kloosterhuis. In addition, there is Julie Estelle as Maria Duchtaeau and newcomer child actor, Akiva Sardi as Des Alwi.
