"Surely as long as there is no clarity, no guarantee of safety from the government, from the police for the community, yes. Yes, of course everyone will be afraid, worried," said Ustaz Derry Sulaiman.

The preacher, who is known to be close to celebrity circles, also highlighted the impact of the damage caused by the riots, ranging from vehicles that were burned to victims injured due to clashes.

"We see how many dozens of cars were burned, how many people became victims, injured, affected by tear gas attacks," he said when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Monday (01/9).
