Before becoming known as a famous comedian, Nurul Qomar started his career journey as the headmaster at TK/SD Widuri Indah, from 1985 to 1987.

Qomar even continued his profession in the field of education despite later being known as a comedian. He even served as a teacher at Muhammadiyah High School in Cirebon.

At that school, Nurul Qomar taught Sociology and Cultural Anthropology from 2000 to 2001. This senior comedian was once appointed as the National Literacy Ambassador by the government.

Nurul Qomar's career as an academic is quite impressive. He was entrusted with the position of Rector of Muhadi Setiabudi University, Brebes, for the term 2017-2021.

As a comedian, he started his career at the age of 16 by joining the comedy group Tomtam.

After that, he became more famous when he formed the comedy group Empat Sekawan with Derry, Eman, and Ginanjar, who gained popularity in the 1990s through the situational comedy soap opera Lika-Liku Laki-Laki.

As a comedian, Nurul Qomar successfully captured the audience's attention with his humor style, which is said to be distinctive and clever.

Nurul Qomar also broadened his horizons by venturing into politics. The actor from the soap opera Para Pencari Tuhan was elected as a member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives in 2004.

Not just for one term, he returned to become a legislative member in 2009. Qomar even ran for Deputy Regent of Cirebon but had to accept defeat.

Nurul Qomar took his last breath at the age of 64. In 2021, he fought against stage 4C colon cancer. He had undergone treatment, including regular chemotherapy.
