The film 'DESA MATI', A New Tension from the Indonesian Horror World with a Touch of Chia Mily's Music

This film is inspired by true stories about abandoned villages in Indonesia, including a mysterious tale from the Majalengka region. One of the stories featured is about a small child who lives alone in a dead village, which serves as the central thread in this film.

DESA MATI tells the journey of five students who decide to vacation at a viral tourist spot called Sendang. However, their holiday turns into a terrifying adventure when they get lost in a mysterious village that seems uninhabited.

As they try to find a way out of the village, the five students face a horrifying reality. They discover body parts in the river and realize that the village is not actually empty. The village has eternal inhabitants who perform horrifying rituals using human blood as part of their dark tradition.

The chilling impression in this film is further enhanced by the soundtrack titled Kelam, which is sung and created by Chia Mily. This song is designed to complement the horror atmosphere of the film, providing a deeper experience for the audience.

"As for a horror soundtrack, this is my first time. Previously, I used to make sweet pop songs themed around love. But this is an exciting challenge," said Chia Mily in the Epicentrum area, Kuningan, South Jakarta, recently.

1. The Creative Process Behind 'Kelam'

Chia's creative process in creating the song Kelam took about two weeks. She admitted to delving into the film to understand the horror atmosphere that she wanted to convey, so that her song could blend with the story.

"Actually, there was no difficulty, just more in-depth study. I watched the film, then I made the song so that the horror atmosphere would really be felt. Thank God, Kelam was created," said Chia.

2. Deep Messages in the Lyrics

In addition to building a mystical atmosphere, Kelam also carries a touching message about sincerity in facing loss. This song depicts farewell to a loved one and accepting God's fate with an open heart.

"The song tells about every human who comes and goes. We must be able to accept what God has determined with sincerity. That is the message I want to convey through this song," she explained.

3. Music Becomes a Priority

Chia Mily, who was previously known as a member of the band Mily, is now increasingly active in various fields of art. In addition to being a musician and songwriter, Chia has also ventured into acting in the horror film Janin Iblis and has become a film producer. However, she emphasizes that music remains her main priority.

"I really want to do everything, if possible. Producer, songwriter, singer, everything. But music will always be my main place to create," concluded Chia.
