The Legal Case of Vadel Badjideh Continues, Peace Efforts with Nikita Mirzani Fail to Materialize

The process of completing the documentation is still ongoing so that this case can soon advance to the next stage. "For the case reported, NM has entered the detention stage of 20 days plus 40, making it a total of 60 days. This is because the investigators are completing the files to be sent to the prosecutor's office," said the Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Nurma Dewi, when met at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Tuesday (4/8/2025).

Nurma explained that the majority of the documents and supporting data have been collected by the investigators. However, there are still a few things that need to be perfected before the files are declared complete and submitted to the prosecutor's office for further processing."For this, it is already 80 percent complete. So everything has been provided, but those that are still lacking will be sought and completed," added Nurma Dewi.

Even so, the police did not specifically disclose what the deficiencies are in the file. Nurma only explained that this is entirely the authority of the investigator as part of the applicable legal administrative process.

"What is clear is what is being asked by the prosecutor or what needs to be completed by the investigator. What is clear is that the investigator knows. Certainly, the sooner the better. Because time is running, it has been 20 days, and it has also been extended by 40 days," he said.

In the latest development, Vadel's family has also decided to change the legal team. This change has been officially communicated to the investigator and has been accepted without significant obstacles. However, it is not yet known who the new lawyer will be handling Vadel's case moving forward.

"That's right, the VA family has already approached the investigator to change their legal representation. The investigator has also received this," said Nurma Dewi.

Amid the ongoing legal process, there was a discussion about resolving this matter through Restorative Justice (RJ). Unfortunately, this peaceful effort has not yet been realized. This is due to the unmet important requirements that are the basis for the implementation of RJ."RJ was indeed proposed, but both parties must sit together. RJ must adhere to the stipulated conditions. For now, it has not happened," concluded Nurma Dewi.
