The Twists and Turns of Finding Identity, Eccentric Singer Jinan Laetitia Releases Album "One"

Kapanlagi.com - Singer with eccentric style from Bogor, Jinan Laetitia releases her debut album titled "One" under Warner Music Indonesia label. There are a total of 10 songs composed by Jinan, four of which are new songs. Meanwhile, six songs have been released gradually since 2021. In this album, Jinan tells the twists and turns of finding identity.

The themes taken from each of Jinan's songs have philosophical meanings. For example, the songs "Forgive" and "Picture" or "The Picture". In those songs, Jinan explores the theme of self-reflection journey. Meanwhile, "Mannequin" and "Timeless" feat Pamungkas or "The More" take the theme of not caring about other people's views of oneself.

"The main message of this album is that in life, we can encounter various different situations that require different sides of ourselves. Wherever life takes you, stay true to yourself. Don't be afraid of rejection or replacement, because we only have one self. We must know ourselves so that others cannot dictate who we are," said Jinan to journalists on Friday (10/6/2022).

Then, in February and March 2022, Jinan released the songs "Welcome Back" and "Favorite" which are contrasting reflections between self-love and self-loathing. Meanwhile, "Vanilla" which became the focusing track of the album "One" interprets the challenges in life if seen through a fun perspective.

1. Write 9 Songs

"With life and all its complications, it's best to not take it too seriously, with a hint of flavor," said a student from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at ITB.

On the album "One", Jinan wrote nine out of the 10 songs. "Timeless" is the only song she created with Pamungkas. Meanwhile, the producer for the album's songs was worked on by Jinan and Osvaldorio. Overall, the process of making this album took up to 2 years.

"I hope "One" can be your companion in building yourself up every day. I hope when you’re sad, it comforts you, and when you’re happy it celebrates you," said Jinan.

It should be noted that before joining Warner Music Indonesia record label, Jinan had already released six songs independently and gained appreciation from various listeners in countries such as Singapore, Taiwan, and the United States.

3. Positive Response

Some of Jinan's previous songs have received positive responses from her fans, such as "Timeless" which has been streamed on Spotify more than 284,000 times and "Picture" with 180,000 streams.
