The Viral RI 36 Car Belongs to Raffi Ahmad, Here's the Chronology Shared by His Staff

As is known, the video first appeared on the TikTok account with the username @whatareudoingbruhhh on Thursday, January 9, 2025, with a positive intention showcasing the government's quick response.

The recorder of the viral video of the RI 36 vehicle being escorted by patrol and escort (patwal) breaking through traffic congestion on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Jakarta has reportedly apologized through the TikTok account with the username @whatareudoingbruhhh.

"First of all, I sincerely apologize for what has happened lately regarding the video I recorded of the viral Patwal RI 36. I also apologize to Mrs. Meutya Hafid (Minister of Communication and Information), Mr. Nusron Wahid (Minister of ATR/BPN), and Mr. Budi Arie Setiadi (Minister of Cooperatives) for being implicated in this video even though the three of them are not in this video," he explained.

The account also expressed an apology to the Patwal officer who was tasked with escorting the RI 36 vehicle, identified as D, who is suspected of having received sanctions.

At the end of his post, he also apologized to the Indonesian National Police, as after the video went viral, he felt he had created a negative image of the institution. "I also apologize to the Korlantas Polri & the Indonesian National Police because of my actions, the image of the police has become unfavorable & has created negative assumptions about the police," he concluded.

1. Clarification and Chronology of the Incident by Korlantas POLRI

According to the clarification from the Deputy Director of Traffic at the Metro Jaya Police, AKBP Argo Wiyono explained that the officer in the viral video is Brigadier DK. Based on the clarification, Brigadier DK was escorting the vehicle with RI 36 license plates that was passing on Jenderal Sudirman Street on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, around 16:30.

Initially, the escort proceeded normally until, as seen in the video, a patching truck suddenly stopped in the middle lane, causing a traffic jam, which led the Alphard taxi right behind the truck to swerve to the right or change lanes.

"However, at the same time, there was a vehicle from the right, a white Suzuki Ertiga, that was also trying to move forward, almost causing a collision," said Argo in his statement on Friday, January 10, 2025.

"As a result, the black Silver Bird Alphard taxi stopped for a while, and at that moment, a debate occurred between the two vehicles, causing a traffic jam. (Brigadier DK intervened) and at that time, the gesture of the officer appeared to be pointing as if arrogantly," he added.

Eventually, Brigadier DK along with the RI 36 vehicle continued their journey.

2. Clarification and Chronology by President's Special Envoy Raffi Ahmad

In addition, the President's Special Envoy Raffi Ahmad has clarified that the vehicle with the RI 36 license plate is the vehicle he uses for official state duties. Raffi explained in his statement that at the time of the incident, he was not in the vehicle because it was on its way to pick him up after previously collecting several important documents before continuing to the next meeting.

"It is true that the vehicle is one that I use, but at the time of the incident, I was not inside the car because at that time the vehicle with the RI 36 plate was in the process of picking me up for the next meeting agenda," he explained.

As the user of the vehicle with the RI 36 plate, President's Special Envoy Raffi Ahmad explained the actual chronology of the incident after clarifying with the entire escort team that was accompanying him.

1. In front of the convoy, there was a black Alphard taxi.
2. In front of that taxi, there was a stopped truck, causing the taxi to take the right lane and nearly sideswipe the vehicle in that lane.
3. The taxi driver and the other vehicle then rolled down their windows and engaged in a verbal argument.
4. The escort officer who witnessed this, concerned about causing traffic jams due to the fairly heavy traffic, immediately admonished the taxi driver by saying, 'Enough, move ahead, Sir' with the gesture seen in the video.

It is known that the Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police has issued an apology for the actions of the escort personnel and the escorting (patwal) of the vehicle with the RI 36 plate that seemed arrogant on the road.
