Kapanlagi.com - The South Jakarta Religious Court confirmed that the marriage status of Venna Melinda and Ferry Irawan remains valid as husband and wife. This was stated by Taslimah, the spokesperson for the South Jakarta Religious Court, who explained the legal process that has prevented the status from changing.

According to Taslimah, although the divorce case of Venna and Ferry began on August 3, 2023, their marriage status cannot be finalized yet due to an ongoing appeal. "That's the case, right? When it was decided on August 3, 2023, it was over. Then, because there is an appeal, the appeal registration date is August 18, 2023," said Taslimah at her office on Monday (19/8/2024).

1. No One Filed for Cassation

After the appeal was registered, the appellate decision from the Jakarta Religious High Court was announced on October 3, 2023. However, the official notification regarding the content of the appellate decision was only delivered to the petitioner on October 6, 2023, and to the respondent on October 27, 2023.

Since no party filed for cassation after the appeal, the appellate decision became legally binding on November 13, 2023. On that date, the parties were summoned for the divorce pledge hearing scheduled for November 30, 2023.

However, on November 30, 2023, both the petitioner and the respondent, including their legal representatives, were absent from the hearing. Due to this absence, the divorce pledge process was postponed for the next six months.

"If within that six-month period no party files a request for the pledge, then the case is considered dismissed. "If the concerned party does not file for the pledge within that six-month period, it will end on May 30, 2024," Taslimah explained.

2. Venna and Ferry Are Still Husband and Wife

Considering that there was no submission of a declaration during the six-month period set, the case is declared dismissed on May 30, 2024. With the dismissal of the case, the marital status of Venna Melinda and Ferry Irawan returns to its original state, which is still valid as husband and wife.

Thus, although the legal process has been ongoing for a long time, their marital status has not undergone any official change. Both are still bound in a legally valid marriage.
