Tina Toon Shares Her Experience as a Mother and a Public Representative, Willing to Give Up 'Me Time'

For Tina Toon, juggling the roles of a new mother and a public representative is certainly no easy task. She truly feels this after giving birth to her first child. Tina has to be smart in dividing her time between taking care of her family and serving the community. Her packed schedule forces her to give up personal time or me time.

Tina admits that since having a child, her life priorities have completely changed. She can no longer freely hang out with friends or pamper herself at the salon like before. Her free time is now fully dedicated to her little one and her work.

"Maybe right now, that's why I really apologize for some things that I can't manage, for example, I really don't have time to hang out with friends. I also don't have time for me time," Tina expressed with a slightly regretful yet sincere tone.

Even for self-care, Tina can only do it if there is an important or urgent event. She prefers to use her break time to accompany her child who is in their cutest phase.

"Maybe going to the salon is only on special occasions or really urgent situations, only then. So right now, it's really about work, the work itself," she continued.

Although it is exhausting, Tina feels grateful because she receives full support from her family, especially her husband and mother. They also participate in raising the little one, so Tina can continue to perform her duties as a member of the DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives well.

"That's why I actually have a lot of help, from my mom, and my husband is very supportive and hands-on, plus I do have help from a nanny," explained Tina.

For Tina, being a working mother is a choice that must be made with commitment. She strives to balance her domestic and public roles as best as she can, even if it means sacrificing her personal pleasures for the future of her child and her responsibilities to the people.

"So it's just parenting, parenting in our own way. I mean, just enough in the sense that what's important is that they are healthy, we keep track of milestones like vaccinations, milk, and nutritional intake," concluded Tina.
