Vanessa Angel Cries while Reading Plea, Bibi Ardiansyah Sobs in the Courtroom

Kapanlagi.com - Defendant in the drug abuse case, Vanessa Angel, burst into tears while reading her plea or defense note in the main courtroom of the West Jakarta District Court on Monday (26/10/2020). In three sheets of paper, Vanessa Angel poured out her heart's cries and expressed them before the panel of judges while sobbing.

"Honorable judges, allow me, Vanessa Angel, to convey my heartfelt outpouring. What I am expressing is not a defense but a lamentation that has been boiling in my heart," she said.

1. Admitting Negligence

Vanessa, who has anxiety disorder and has been taking xanax on the doctor's recommendation for several years, admits regret for being negligent in the procedure of owning the drug, which falls under the category of psychotropic group 4.

"I never had any noble intentions, I never abused the drug, I took the drug based on the doctor's prescription because my anxiety disorder prevented me from sleeping, caused acid reflux, hair loss, constantly sweaty hands, and fluctuating emotions," she said.

"Honorable Judge, I admit that I made a mistake in this case, I redeemed the drug at a Surabaya pharmacy not following the procedure. For that, I feel sad and regretful," she added.

2. Concerned about the Child

In her plea, Vanessa hopes that the Honorable Judge will give a fair and wise verdict considering that she currently has a child who needs a mother's love.

"Honorable Judge, whom I respect, surely you understand what it is like to be a parent. I beg you not to separate me from my family and my child in this decision," Vanessa pleaded.

3. Bibi Ardiansyah Also Cries

Meanwhile, upon hearing Vanessa's defense, her husband, Bibi Ardiansyah, was seen sobbing in the courtroom. As it is known, in the previous trial, the public prosecutor (JPU) demanded a six-month prison sentence and a fine of Rp 10 million, or a three-month prison sentence in default of payment.

The prosecutor found Vanessa guilty of drug abuse related to the possession of 20 Xanax pills found by the police at her residence.
