Vania's Eyes Were Hit by Rubber Fragments at School, Venna Melinda Teaches Her Child to Speak Up

The fragments entered Vania's eyes after being thrown by one of her friends. Because it happened at school, Venna regretted that the relevant parties did not immediately inform her.

"I panicked because the teacher didn't immediately tell me. If they had told me when they went home or at ten o'clock when it happened, because usually teachers immediately send a message on WhatsApp if Vania is shivering or something. If I had known from the beginning, I wouldn't have panicked like that because why would we go to the emergency room at 10 p.m.? There were no doctors, we had to go to an eye specialist," said Venna when met in the Kapten Tendean area, Tuesday (3/10/2023).

1. Commitment to Improve S.O.P

After Vania Athabina received treatment, Venna Melinda immediately spoke with the school. From the meeting, it was finally agreed to increase vigilance towards children's activities at school.

"Finally, the school's conclusion is to commit to improving the S.O.P so that if there is anything, it will be immediately conveyed to me as usual via WhatsApp. The teacher actually had problem solving (after the incident), but didn't know the details, so it was thought to be dust, but it turned out to be rubber fragments," said Venna.

2. School is Not Defensive

Venna Melinda is grateful that the school is not defensive, so she is confident that it will not happen again. This can also be a lesson for Vania Athabina to speak up immediately if something happens.

"I am grateful that the school is not defensive, they are open-minded, so we can find solutions and I feel at ease leaving my child at school. And Vania also learns that she should speak up if there is anything. Because in the UKS, there is no complete medicine like at the doctor's," said Venna Melinda.
