Thariq Halilintar and Aaliyah Massaid officially married at the Raffles Hotel Ballroom, South Jakarta, on Friday (26/7/2024). This moment was witnessed by President Jokowi and Chairman of the MPR Bambang Soesatyo. It went smoothly, but in fact, Thariq admitted that he did not say the ijab kabul in one breath.
"Honestly, it was very nerve-wracking because your name is quite long. But Alhamdulillah (it went smoothly)," said Thariq at the Raffles Hotel, South Jakarta, on Friday (26/7/2024).
"Earlier I didn't take a single breath, so when I spoke (ijab qabul), it was really quick," Thariq continued.
Thariq also recounted that the night before the ceremony, he and Aaliyah Masaid only communicated via phone.
"I memorized it last night. Not memorizing because I was definitely nervous at that table, it's a lifelong commitment," he said.
"Alhamdulillah everything went smoothly, relieved as well, also nervous when about to get married. We haven't met since yesterday, so when we were nervous, we just talked on the phone asking 'are you nervous, are you ready'," he added.
Regarding the dowry, Thariq stated that Aaliyah did not ask for anything, so they decided on a dowry that corresponds with the wedding date, which is 26.072.024.
"The dowry is adjusted to today’s date, this year, Aaliyah didn’t ask for anything, I was confused about what the dowry should be, so we made one that can remind us of today, 26.072.024," he concluded.
