Vicky Nitinegoro Highlights Safety on Cipularang Toll Road After Fatal Accident at KM 92

When met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Vicky expressed his concerns regarding safety aspects, especially for truck and bus drivers. According to Vicky, one of the main issues often encountered on the Cipularang toll road is the truck's rear lights being frequently obscured by exhaust smoke, making it difficult for other drivers to see.

"If actually the road section is not the problem, it goes back to the trucks, because it can't be avoided if sometimes the truck's rear lights are not visible. It's clear that there are a lot of them," he said on Monday (11/11/2024).

Vicky also highlights the technical aspects of heavy vehicles, such as trucks and buses that frequently pass through the toll road. According to her, the taillights of large vehicles should be brighter so they can be clearly seen by other drivers, especially at night or in bad weather.

"The lights need to be brighter, all of them are buses, trucks," she continued.

2. Vicky Emphasizes Caution

In addition to vehicle conditions, Vicky also reminds the importance of driving carefully. She emphasizes that even when being careful, accidents can still happen due to the mistakes of others.

"The point is we have to be careful on the road. It’s a different story if we’re unlucky, we usually drive carefully to avoid collisions, but we can still be hit. The main thing is to be cautious, don’t drive recklessly," added Vicky.

As a driver who has passed through the Cipularang toll road, Vicky reminds drivers to be more familiar with the terrain that is often traversed by heavy vehicles. Here is Vicky's advice.

"You have to know the terrain as well. The road is bumpy, and there are many trucks too. So if you feel like you rarely pass there, and you’re not familiar with the terrain, it’s better to play it safe, just go slowly, no need to rush as long as you arrive," he explained.

4. Vicky Has Experienced an Accident on the Cipularang Toll Road

Vicky also admitted to having experienced an accident on the Cipularang toll road. In that incident, both he and another driver made mistakes.

"He was wrong, I was also wrong. I was speeding, but his car was also at fault, cutting to the left without signaling, just suddenly. Both were wrong," he said.

5. Vicky Expresses Condolences

When the accident occurred, Vicky was sitting in the front seat of his friend's car. Fortunately, the incident did not cause serious injuries.

"Nothing happened, just a broken heart for the new car because it belongs to a friend," he said while laughing.

The major accident in Cipularang made Vicky feel deep sadness as well. As a form of empathy, he conveyed prayers and support to the families of the victims.

"For the families left behind due to the accident in Cipularang, I express my deepest condolences. Hopefully, they are given strength and patience," he said with hope.
